This Year's Leader - Mary Sholars
This year's retreat leader is Marty Sholars of Exceedingly More Ministries. Marty Sholars is a Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist and Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor. She received her undergraduate degree in Psychology and Sociology from Texas Wesleyan College and a Master’s degree in counseling from Stephen F. Austin State University.
God has recently called Marty from her profession as a Christian counselor into a full-time speaking ministry. She speaks at retreats, conferences, banquets, etc. Marty was the Director of Providence Clinic of Texas in Houston where she counseled individuals, couples and families experiencing a variety of difficulties.
Prior to joining Providence Clinic, she was the Director of Minirth Meier Clinic in Houston. Marty’s approach to counseling and speaking is an expression of her confidence in Christ as the Great Healer. She believes strongly that, apart from Christ, healing is only partial at best and that His involvement is essential to bring healing to the whole person—spirit, mind, emotions, and body. Marty is co-founder of Celebration, a new women’s ministry in her denomination. Marty lives in Lufkin, Texas with her husband, Nick, a pastor. They have two grown children - Meredith and Kent.
