staffreading, growing, serving

W. Martin (Marty) Nicholas - Senior Pastor

There is no greater joy in my life than to see God touch someone's heart and change a life. In fact, for nearly 14 years my leadership at Sugar Land Methodist has been invested in helping people find and follow God with their hearts.

Since becoming Senior Pastor in 1994, I have helped the church grow in its ministry in the community and around the world. Its expanding mission work literally is across the street and across the sea. I am open to God's direction as the church seeks to become an irresistible influence in the Sugar Land area. Among the preaching, teaching and leadership roles I fill at the church, I have been active in many community leadership roles, such as chairman of the City Ethics Task Force, a member of the Cultural Diversity Team and City Vision Task Force.

As much as the church and ministry mean to me, my family and home mean more. Traveling with my wife Pat, playing squash, golfing and reading bring me great joy. My daughter Marianne and grandson Seth reside in Sugar Land. My son Matt lives in Little Rock, Arkansas with his wife Amy and granddaughters Elaina and Avery.
