"God, Community, Recovery"

Addiction is an equal opportunity destroyer. It has no economic, social, race, or age boundaries. It doesn’t always do its destruction visibly; it often hurts internally, where we think people can’t see it. There are several dependency behaviors recognized as addiction, such as alcoholism, drug abuse, gambling, pornography/sex, eating disorders, work addiction, to name a few. But almost anything we use to escape reality can be used to such an extreme that it can make life unmanageable and can even become life threatening.

Safe Harbor is a Christ-centered gathering where people can and do support each other in restoring a healthy balance to living life. We share our experience, strength, and hope in a desire to have and share healing, recovery, and God’s comforting Spirit. Many of us are involved in Twelve Step programs, and some are recovering from depression and/or anxiety. We welcome those who feel discon-nected/spiritually homeless. Saturday nights at Safe Harbor are filled with friendship and sharing, music, prayer, and testimonies from the recovery community, set in a casual environment.

Safe Harbor meets on Saturdays from 6:30-7:30 p.m., in the Student Life Center of Sugar Land First United Methodist Church, 402 Eldridge Rd, Sugar Land, Texas 77478 (click here for a map and directions).
