At His Feet
At His Feet is a prayer group that gathers together weekly in the Prayer Chapel to specifically pray for our church. Our prayers are intentional and meant to seek God’s direction and plan for us as His church. We regularly pray for the pastors, the staff, the leadership, and every ministry area. There are two groups—one meeting at 11:15 a.m. on Wednesday mornings, and the other meeting on Thursday evenings at 6:40 p.m. Anyone is welcome to come, as their schedule permits, to join us “at His feet” as we pray for our church.
Altar Prayer Ministry
Altar Prayer Ministry is a way to turn your gifts of mercy and compassion into the loving hands of God. The pastors open the altar at the end of each service, and Altar Prayer Ministers are available to receive and pray for those who have a celebration for which they want to praise God for or for those who have a specific need and want to lift their petitions to the Lord. Training is available and the members meet periodically during the year to share praises and encouragement.
Communion Outreach Ministry
You can represent the presence of Christ for the homebound members of our church. Sugar Land Methodist is reviving the Communion Outreach ministry. This ministry is members serving members communion once a month. If you can commit to taking communion to those who cannot attend worship because of hardship or illness, we would love for you to join our team.
Intercessory Prayer
Members of the Intercessory Prayer Ministry pray over the prayer requests received from our church family and guests every day. Members set their time according to their individual schedules, whether once a month or once a week. The faithfulness of God and His awesome power are revealed as answers to prayer are received.
Mission Prayer Ministry
Several times a year, Sugar Land Methodist participates in mission trips to Guatemala, Mexico, and locations in the United States and around the world. The Mission Prayer Ministry matches missionaries with prayer partners who pray for them throughout the duration of their trip. The names of the missionaries are placed on paper doves and hung on a “Dove Tree”. The congregation is encouraged to select a dove and pray for that missionary during their trip.
Pastor's Prayer Partners
Pastor’s Prayer Partners are committed to keeping our pastors, and thereby our church, lifted up in prayer daily. Prayer Partners also pray during each worship service for the Spirit of God to speak through our pastors and move through our congregation in a mighty way. At retreats, we pray together and share how prayer has affected our lives and the life of our church. This is the perfect place to learn how to begin a life of prayer or to enhance an active prayer life.
Prayer Chapel
Our Prayer Chapel provides a very warm and attractive place to pray. It is large enough for small group prayer or special services, but private enough for praying alone.
Prayer Room
The Prayer Room is located near the Chapel and is a room dedicated to prayer. It is a beautiful, intimate place to meet with God and pray for the needs of individuals, the church, our community, the nation and the world. While perfect for personal prayer, there is room for two people to pray together. There are prayer guides available to help you in your time of prayer.
