

David & Shannon Goran
David and Shannon Goran are missionaries with the General Board of Global Ministries of The United Methodist Church. David is serving as Pastor and Director of Student Ministry in L'viv, Ukraine. His wife, Shannon is Associate Director of Student Ministry.
Their focus is working with students in a number of ways, including large group gatherings, small groups and outreach. David is also involved in church planting. With a background in social work, Shannon is excited about working with the young women of the Ukraine through facilitation of small groups. She also works with the student ministry leadership team, not only teaching leadership in a ministry setting, but also looking at it in a secular world.
Born in Illinois, David attended the University of Illinois and earned a Bachelors of Science in Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences. His graduate study was at Asbury Seminary where he received his Master of Arts in Intercultural Studies. David has worked in the airline industry and as a research assistant with the University of Illinois. Lakewood UMC in Houston, TX, is David’s sending church. His parents, William and Jennifer Goran, live in Champaign, IL, and attend Mattis Ave. Free Methodist Church.
A native Texan, Shannon attended the University of Texas and earned her Bachelor of Social Work. She continued her education at Asbury Theological Seminary in Kentucky where she received her Master of Arts in World Missions and Evangelism. Shannon also has a Master of Social Work from the University of Kentucky. Before joining GBGM, Shannon worked in child protective services and as a case manager with a foster care agency.
