New! T-3 Needs Your Donations
Our homeless friends are in great need of gently used men's and women's clothes and shoes. Men's clothing is especially needed since there are so many more men than women on the streets. Spring is a great time to clean out your closets! If you have any items you wish to donate please contact Jan Golden at or 713.782.1446.
T-3 Ministry
"Be ready to do whatever is good, to slander no one, to be peaceable and considerate, and to show true humility toward all men." Titus 3:1-2
Join us and be a part of T-3 Ministry. We make sandwiches and put together sack lunches to distribute to the homeless and less fortunate in downtown Houston. There is not a requirement to commit every month. Just show up to help experience the blessings received from this ministry.
Let God show you how volunteering your time can make a difference in someone's life. Our Sunday school classes and other groups help by volunteering, usually on the third Sunday of each month, for the preparation and distribution of the lunches. We can always use help with distributing food.
We generally meet in the Mission Room (Room 705) after Sunday school to form groups going downtown. For additional information, contact the church office at 281.491.6041.
The History of T-3; a Charge to Love the Homeless
Several years ago God placed on Sylvia Lindley’s heart the same request that He made of Peter at the Sea of Galilee over 2000 years ago (see John 21). This simple request was for Sylvia to show her love for Him by feeding His sheep, the homeless of our society.
At first, Sylvia struggled to understand what God wanted her to do and whether she could really make a difference until God dramatically got her attention. As she was driving one day, she was almost run off the road by a pick-up truck and as she was about to get angry at the driver, she noticed the bumper sticker that read “Can One Person Really Make a Difference? Jesus did!”
From that day forward Sylvia and her friend Carol Whitcher, have faithfully tried to follow this calling to feed and love God’s sheep. Their faithfulness and the love they have shown in God’s service has touched the lives of many homeless people and has encouraged many members of our congregation to become more actively engaged in this powerful mission. As Jesus said in Luke 10, “The harvest is truly great, but the laborers are few; pray ye therefore the Lord of the Harvest, that He would send forth laborers into His harvest.”
