Helping the Children of Kenya
The Providence Children's Home and Community Center is a nonprofit organization created to build and operate an orphanage in Ngong, Kenya. The facility will be a sustainable campus on a 15 acre site. Architects, educators and activists in America and in Kenya have come together to help with the African AIDS crisis.
As of 2003, there were an estimated 12.1 million children orphaned by AIDS in sub-Saharan Africa alone. The orphan crisis in sub-Saharan Africa will worsen dramatically in the coming years. By 2010, there will be approximately 20 million children in sub-Saharan Africa who have lost at least one parent to HIV/AIDS, bringing the total number of orphans in the region to 42 million.
The Providence Children's Home and Community Center aims to provide a safe home and education for as many of these children as possible. We are honored to help such a worthwhile program that is changing the lives of so many children.
