Faith at Home
Statistics show that religious life in the home is more influential than the church. Therefore Children’s Ministry has a program called Faith at Home in which we equip parents with the ability to lead the spiritual growth of their family and allow the church to reinforce what is occurring at home. We invite the parents yearly to join their children during a 10:10 Sunday School time to learn a topic and how to apply it at home.
Goal of the each Faith at Home event
2 Year Old - Family Blessing: To establish the ritual of parents praying God's blessings over their children on a daily basis.
3 Year Old - Family Devotion: To empower families to have a consistent, effective, successful, positive devotional experience together that will encourage a lasting discipline in their children's lives.
4 year Old - My Church: To allow families to have a memorable experience together at church as they learn how much they matter to the faith community.
Kindergarten - Family Worship: To help families understand and appreciate the important role worship should play in their lives and to equip the family to worship at home.
1st Grade - Family Communion: To familiarize children with the how, when and why of communion as well as to familiarize the parents with the practice of communion in the Methodist church. This should help families feel comfortable and welcome at God’s table.
2nd Grade - Family Prayer: To empower families to develop the regular habit of prayer and thus connect the next generation to God in a powerful way.
3rd Grade - Bibles Presentation: To empower families to spend time together reading the Bible and memorizing Scripture, truly putting God's Word at the center of their lives.
4th Grade - Serving Others: With our children growing up in a "what's in it for me?" society, how can we help them care about and be willing to serve others in response for God's love for them?
5th Grade - Recognition & Student Ministry Introduction: To educate the upcoming 6th graders and parents on Student Ministry activities. . The student is recognized at the 11:15 service as they ‘graduate’ from the Children’s Ministry.
