What is Angel Food Ministries?
Angel Food Ministries is a non-profit, non-denominational organization that began in 1994 in Monroe, Georgia (between Atlanta and Athens) with 34 families. Today, Angel Food Ministries operates across the country in 40 states, feeding over 500,000 families a month and providing groceries to people of all income levels. There are no income requirements, no financial qualifications and no applications to complete. This food relief program is open to one and all.
For $30.00, families receive a Signature Box that has quality nutritious food of fresh, frozen and packaged food items with a retail value of $60.00 or more that fits into a medium sized box that we provide. Generally, one Signature Box of food will assist in feeding a family of four for about one week, or a single senior citizen for almost a month. The food is all the same high quality you purchase at a grocery store. There are no second-hand items, no damaged or out-dated goods, no dented cans without labels, no day-old bread and no produce that is too ripe.
The Signature Box comes with 16 to 18 food items every month, with each month’s menu different than the previous month. Now we offer every month a Allergen-Free Box that is processed to eliminate the eight top serious allergens: Peanuts, Soybeans, Milk, Eggs, Fish, Crustacea, Tree Nuts and Gluten (wheat and barley). Also offered is a Senior Box/Convenience Box (For Seniors or People on the Go) that comes with ten individually nutritionally balanced, fully cooked meals – just heat and serve. It contains 3 oz. of protein, a starch and two vegetables or fruits for those with dietary needs. In addition to these great food values, every month there are “Special Food Boxes” offered for sale such as Meat Food Boxes that contain restaurant-grade steaks, chicken or pork. Also being offered every month is a Fresh Fruit and Veggie Box, Seafood Box, After School/Summer Food Box for Kids and now all “Special Food Boxes” can be purchased without a Signature Box, Allergen-Free Box or Senior Box/Convenience Box food order.
This ministry is both a bargain and a blessing to those who need to stretch their food dollars every month. You may purchase as many food boxes as you want, as often as you like. You can purchase a box of food for yourself or let us donate a box of food to someone less fortunate. Also, Angel Food Ministries participates in the U.S. Food Stamp Program to help low-income families buy the food they need for good nutrition. We are proud to offer this service to our community on the Friday before the food order deadline due date from 1:00 p.m. to 4:15 p.m.

With the generosity of Bill Moore of Re/Max Southwest Realtors, in 2008, 2009 and again in 2010, we have been blessed with the contribution of the use of his delivery box truck for Angel Food Ministries. Also, since joining Angel Food Ministries in January of 2007, we have distributed over 8,180 boxes of food to over 3,300 families in our community. This is truly a great outreach into the community and to our own church members, to be able to come together as the body of Christ for one common goal….. to help families meet one of the basic necessities of life. Is God calling you to help? “Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people. Galatians 6:10 (NIV)
