Membership Covenant

As members of Sugar Land First United Methodist Church, we are all here because we profess our belief in Jesus Christ and seek to live out God's will in our lives together. I unite with my brothers and sisters in Christ to reach out to others, grow as followers of Christ, and go forth in ministry and service so that all may know God's love in Jesus Christ.

1. I will strengthen the unity of this church by:
   1. Acting in love toward others
   2. Following and supporting the leaders of the church
   3. Maintaining respect for others and refusing to gossip
2. I will reach out to others by:
   1. Praying for those who are not a part of a church
   2. Inviting those without a church home to attend worship with me
   3. Offering loving hospitality as a host/hostess in God's house
   4. Being a living example of Christ in my neighborhood and community
3. I will grow in my faith and relationship with Christ by:
   1. Participating faithfully in worship
   2. Studying the Bible and praying regularly
   3. Participating in a small group to develop and grow through Christian friendships
   4. Giving financially through tithing or working towards tithing
   5. Discovering my gifts and talents for ministry
4. I will serve by:
   1. Offering my gifts and talents within the church
   2. Offering my gifts and talents in my home, work, and community/world
